It looks like downtown Vancouver transit folks are going to get a new quick spot for Vietnamese eats!
Earlier this week, a Noms Mag community member (@chungrymood) spotted signs for Chao Mami taking over the former Granville Skytrain Station Xing Fu Tang space.
This won’t just be any Chao Mami—it’s an express concept.
That means fast, convenient, and flavourful Vietnamese eats perfect for grab-and-go meals.
Chao Mami is the revitalized version of Brokenrice, a family-run Vietnamese restaurant that has been serving Burnaby Heights since 2013.
Instead of selling the business, siblings Steven and Jennifer took over from their mother, revamped the space, and rebranded in May 2024 to honor her cooking.
The name “Chao Mami” literally means “Hello Mom,” a tribute to their mother’s culinary legacy and the comfort of home-cooked meals.
Now, they’re expanding into downtown.
The Chao Mami team told Noms Magazine that the express menu will feature fresh salad rolls, steamed baos, and their popular $10 happy hour pho, which has already gained a following at their Burnaby location.
They’re also bringing specialty drinks (likely their Vietnamese coffee drinks) to the mix
They’re aiming to open sometime in March if everything stays on schedule.
Chao Mami also hinted that they have more surprises in store for the community, with full details to be released as the grand opening approaches.
