Burnaby just scored a major international debut.
If you have driven past the old 88 Noodle spot on Kingsway recently, you might have noticed the bright orange signage going up.
That isn’t just another random rice bowl spot. It is the first-ever Canadian location for Nampo, one of China’s fastest-growing food chains.
A Noms Magazine community member (julio_eats) spotted the new signage going up last week.

To say this brand is “fast-growing” is an understatement.
Founded in 2023, Nampo has been on an absolute tear.
In just one year, they have opened nearly 200 stores across 27 cities and 5 countries.
Now, they are bringing that momentum to Burnaby as part of a major shift from a local China brand to a global player.

Not sure why they’re using a Koala as an expansion mascot animal.
If you look at the menu, you will notice this isn’t your typical traditional bibimbap spot.
The brand is known for modernizing the concept by blending Korean stone pot styles with Chinese culinary influences.
Think of it as a high-speed, fusion take on the sizzling rice bowl.
It keeps the classic “hot stone” experience but introduces bolder, savuory flavour profiles that you might not find in a standard Korean restaurant.
The menu is focused almost entirely on Stone Pot Bibimbap, served piping hot with varied toppings.

The exterior branding highlights dishes like Cumin Beef Sizzling Rice Bowls, Kimchi Pork Belly, and Slate Egg Tofu.
Other popular dishes at its China stores is the Sauerkraut Angus Beef and Spicy Squid.
And yes, the window decal prominently promises “Endless Rice,” highlighting their signature “50:50 Golden Rice Blend” (Wuchang and Jasmine rice) for the perfect texture.

The space has seen a complete refresh from its predecessor.
Gone is the dark, moody 88 Noodle atmosphere.
It has been replaced with a brighter, wooden interior that matches the brand’s modern, scalable aesthetic like its China stores.

You won’t have to wait long to try it.
According to staff at the location, Nampo is aiming to open very soon, potentially within this week or next week.
Nampo joins a growing list of upcoming food spots in the Burnaby, including Chill Plate Foodie Market, Money Food Ent., and No Frills Heights.
