Burnaby’s Italian dining scene is about to get another delicious new addition.
After months of anticipation, Il Cappello Enoteca, the first full-service restaurant from the team behind La Famiglia Dolce Amore, is set to officially open on October 21, 2025.
Il Cappello is the last piece to the family’s trio of concepts at their new Burnaby hub.
It joins The Gelato Mafia “TGM Terrazza” and recently opened Dolce Amore Caffetteria.
Spanning 2,000 sq.ft with seating for up to 100 guests, Il Cappello is designed to feel like an extension of home.
That means a refined yet relaxed space that captures the warmth of Italian hospitality.
The name itself, meaning “the hat” in Italian, is a nod to its role as the finishing touch of the Dolce Amore family.
The kitchen is led by a powerhouse culinary duo: Chef Pino Posteraro, known for his work at award-winning Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill (now closed), and Sicilian-born head chef Daniele Navarria, who has cooked at acclaimed UK restaurants.
Together they’ve created a menu rooted in Italian tradition but presented through a modern lens.
The offerings follow a classic Italian progression: antipasti, pasta and risotto, pizza, main dishes, and desserts.
Expect elegant starters like Burrata Pugliese with Sicilian orange salad, Gamberi alla plancha with almond-bread sauce, and endive and radicchio salad.
The pasta lineup includes rich fettuccine alla bolognese, tonnarelli cacio e pepe, and ricotta-stuffed cannelloni with black kale sauce.
Pizza wise: Neapolitan-style pies such as Margherita Classica with San Marzano tomatoes, Mortadella with stracciatella and pistachio, and Parmigiana topped with eggplant caponata.
For mains, highlights include flame-grilled veal porterhouse, traditional polpette della nonna, and grilled polenta with mushroom ragout.
Desserts will feature rotating gelato and sorbetto from Dolce Amore, alongside modern takes on Italian classics.
The wine list is heavily Italian and complemented by a few standout BC labels.
This new addition marks a major milestone for the Dolce Amore family, expanding their reach beyond gelato and coffee into full-service dining.
Il Cappello now joins other upcoming Burnaby food spots like John 3:16 Malaysian Delights Kingsway, Matcha Tea Lab, and XISHI.
