Walking through the streets of Vancouver, it’s hard not to notice the ever-changing landscape of the food scene.
Numerous food spots are shutting down, with new ones emerging in their place.
Occasionally, there’s a heads-up or a farewell party. At other times, the closure is abrupt.
This appears to be the situation with the recent shuttering we’ve noticed, as Community Taps + Pizza on Commercial Drive was suddenly covered up.
Opening in November 2021, Community Taps + Pizza quickly became a cherished spot on The Drive.
It wasn’t just about pizza and drinks; it was about creating an inclusive space for memorable gatherings.
Initially, we assumed it was merely undergoing renovations. However, a glance through one of the partially open side doors revealed the entire place had been gutted.
Despite its Google Business listing indicating the restaurant is still open, the website for Vancouver’s Community Taps + Pizza now leads to a dead end.
The closure seemed to have come without warning, not only to patrons but to the staff as well.
A Reddit user, claiming to be familiar with the former staff, shared that the establishment had “permanently closed and all staff were let go without notice.”
The Edmonton outpost recently announced its closure on its Instagram page on October 15th, yet there has been no news shared by the Vancouver branch.
There’s already talk among the community, with some guessing what’s next for the prime spot.
Predictions range from a new Donelly Group pub to the possibility of Sing Sing taking over.
For now, these are just theories, with the future of unit still up in the air.
