If you have ever ducked into Robson Street for something cold and comforting after a long walk, this one is going to sting.
The popular Korean dessert cafe that defined late-night bingsu runs downtown has quietly closed its doors.
There was neither a big announcement nor a goodbye post, just a locked door where shaved ice once piled high in metal bowls.
It is officially the end of the road for Sulbing’s Robson location.

We spotted a small “for lease” sign taped to the window, easy to miss unless you were looking for it.
Based on what we can gather, the lights actually went dark sometime in October, though the exact date remains a mystery.
Sulbing is a Korean dessert chain best known for patbingsoo, a finely shaved ice dessert topped with condensed milk, red bean, fruit, and chewy rice cake.
For years, it was a stop for anyone craving something light but satisfying, especially on warmer days when Robson feels endless.

At its peak, Sulbing had several locations across Metro Vancouver, a sign of how quickly Korean dessert culture caught on here.
Unfortunately, those locations began to disappear, until only two remained: the Burnaby North Road shop and this Robson outpost.
The Burnaby location holds a special place in local food history because it was Sulbing’s first Canadian store, opening in 2018.
The Robson Street location followed in 2021, landing at Robson Public Market when foot traffic was slowly returning downtown.
The space was small, and the wait for bingsu could stretch longer than expected.

This closure leaves the North Road location as the last remaining Sulbing in the region, at least for now.
It now joins a growing list of restaurants that have recently shut down from Vancouver, including Jungle Room, and The Ellis.
