If you have lived in East Van anytime since the 90s, you likely know the name Song Huong.
The family-run Vietnamese restaurant has been a fixture on Nanaimo Street since 1996, famous for serving some of the city’s most authentic Bun Bo Hue.
Now, North Burnaby locals no longer have to cross the boundary line to get their fix.
The brand has officially expanded with a brand new location in the Heights.

A Noms Magazine community member (@purplechives) spotted coming soon signage going up in mid-November, and the restaurant quietly opened its doors last week.
The new outpost has taken over the unit previously occupied by LuLu BBQ on Hastings Street.
However, the interior is definitely not what you would expect from a typical noodle shop.
The space still features the leftover “medieval tavern” aesthetic from the Italian & Greek restaurant that was there for over 40 years before Lulu BBQ, complete with heavy stone walls and castle-like arches.

The team has added their own touch, mixing the stone architecture with traditional Vietnamese hats and Whitecaps flags.
We stopped by during the soft opening phase to test the kitchen.
Like their East Vancouver location, their large, extensive menu is the same here.
You’ll find a large selection of noodle soups (pho & bun), rice dishes and rice rolls (banh cuon).

Naturally, we ordered the #1 Song Huong Dac Biet Bun Bo Hue (Special Spicy Beef Noodle), their most popular item.
The broth is rich and spicy, loaded with thick rice noodles, beef shank, ham, and pork hock.

Despite the expansion, the prices remain surprisingly grounded.
A large bowl sits at around $15.75, which is becoming a rarity in Metro Vancouver.
For those worried about the original spot, don’t panic.
The owners have confirmed that the East Van location will remain open as usual.
If you are planning to check out the new Burnaby digs, this is the perfect weekend to do it.
To celebrate their Grand Opening, they are offering 15% off from December 5th to December 7th.
Song Huong Burnaby joins a recent wave of food openings in the area, including Hui Flavor and Chibugan.
