After Black Rice Izakaya shut down back in April, we’ve been curious about what would be taking over.
Well, now we know – say hello to Ju Restaurant!
This new spot is bringing a twist to downtown Vancouver’s dining scene.
Ju, the brainchild of General Manager Young Shin, promises to offer something a little bit different than just another fusion restaurant.
“After 10 years at Black Rice Izakaya, I felt it was time for a change,” Young Shin told Noms Magazine.
Ju aims to blend contemporary Asian flavours with classic French cooking techniques, creating an exciting new fusion that leans more French than Asian.
At the heart of Ju’s kitchen is Chef Step Suh.
With years of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants in Japan and France, Chef Suh is ready to showcase his culinary dreams on each plate.
His talent and creativity are expected to make Ju a standout dining destination.
The transformation from Black Rice Izakaya to Ju also includes a completely fresh new look.
Gone are the dim vibes of the old space.
Instead, Ju offers a bright and open ambiance.
The seating has been reduced from 67 to 46, making the dining experience more comfortable and intimate.
The kitchen layout has been redesigned to ensure total quality control, allowing Chef Suh to have a hand in every dish that leaves the kitchen.
Ju is set to open its doors on Thursday, July 4th, in the same 1900 sq ft space that once housed Black Rice Izakaya.
With fewer seats, a refined menu, and an innovative chef, Ju is a spot to add to your ‘to nom list’!
