It turns out you can do more than just celebrate your birthday at Haidilao in Richmond—you can also celebrate a breakup.
When it comes to dealing with a tough breakup, eating and singing your sadness away is a tried and true way to cope.
And now, it seems like Haidilao is making that experience a little more special for its guests.
Haidilao is famous around the world for their exceptional customer service, offering everything from nail services and hair washes to noodle dance entertainment and more.
A video recently surfaced on Chinese social media showing a customer singing a sad song during her meal at Haidilao due to a breakup.

Even better?
One of the restaurant staff joined her, singing along while commenters mentioned that the staff was also feeling down lately—turning the hot pot experience into an impromptu, heartfelt karaoke session.
The staff who posted the video commented, “Whether you are happy or sad, you will be happy to come to Haidilao to make a reservation.”
It seems that Haidilao’s famous hospitality now extends beyond birthday songs—they’re adding breakup songs to the mix.
When we reached out to Haidilao, they confirmed this new twist with Noms Magazine.
They said, “Yes, at Haidilao Richmond, customers can absolutely request special singing performances, just like for birthdays. Whether it’s a heartfelt breakup song or a sweet love song, our team is more than happy to make your dining experience extra memorable.”
So the next time you’re feeling down or want to break things off with your significant other, consider taking a trip to Haidilao in Richmond.
The Richmond location has also recently added a new disco night, where the entire restaurant transforms into an illuminated dance party on Saturdays and Sundays at 10PM for an hour.
