Hazukido Quietly Soft Opens First North American Cafe+ Store In Richmond

The entrance of Richmond’s Aberdeen Centre Mall, known for its high business turnover, welcomes a new contender aiming to break the trend.

Hazukido, the acclaimed Taiwanese chain celebrated for its Japanese-style French croissants, has quietly soft-opened at this challenging yet prime location.

Who is Hazukido?

Hazukido is not just about baking croissants; it’s a commitment to the art of pastry-making.

Embodying the Japanese Shokunin spirit, the brand is dedicated to perfecting its craft. Each croissant is a testament to this dedication, made with top-notch ingredients like Japanese flour and French butter and crafted through an exclusive folding technique.

This meticulous process ensures a honeycomb texture, guaranteeing a delightful crunch and rich buttery scent in every bite.

Beyond the classics, Hazukido offers an array of unique flavours like Truffle Crab, Salted Egg Yolk, and Fresh Strawberry Custard.

With an ambitious expansion strategy, Hazukido has already established a significant presence in Canada, boasting 13 locations, predominantly in Ontario.

The brand made its BC debut in Yaletown in October 2022.

The new Richmond Aberdeen Centre outlet marks its second venture in the province, introducing North America’s first Cafe+, following only its counterpart in Taiwan.

What’s New at the Richmond Aberdeen Centre Outlet?

This new outlet isn’t just another Hazukido location; it’s the inaugural Cafe+ in North America.

You can expect the standard and unique croissant offerings that have made Hazukido a favourite. Additionally, a coffee menu caters to the needs of caffeine enthusiasts.

Cafe Plus offers more than just pastries. It’s an aesthetically pleasing dine-in space, designed for those craving a Japanese Yoshoku-style meal (Japanized forms of European dishes).

The menu ranges from soups and brunch combos to curry rices and pastas, albeit with premium pricing.

Hazukido is gearing up for their grand opening of this new location on February 17th so there are still several things that may require tinkering.

And whether this new venture will turn the tides for the historically challenging spot at Aberdeen Centre remains to be seen.
