Let’s be honest: when it comes to finding authentic, top-tier ramen in Richmond, the options are surprisingly slim.
While the city dominates in dim sum and bubble tea, ramen lovers have often had to make the trek to Vancouver or Burnaby.
But that is about to change.
We just spotted signage for the major Japanese chain, Horin Ramen, up along No. 3 Rd and Ackroyd Rd, signaling their arrival to the neighbourhood.

This will be Horin’s first-ever location in Richmond and their fourth overall in BC, joining their Robson Street, Burnaby and Victoria outpost.
Last year, they also launched their ninja shiba themed ramen concept, called Nin-Nin as well.
Horin’s roots go back over 50 years to Ogori, Fukuoka Prefecture.
They were the first in Japan to introduce chili peppers into classic tonkotsu broth, earning them the title of the “birthplace of chili ramen.”
Though the original spot was forced to close due to the founder’s illness, the brand was revived in 1966 to carry on the legacy of their handcrafted, “light yet rich” broth.
The chain currently has 5 locations in Fukuoka, Japan.

Richmond diners can expect some seriously good ramen, as Horin is considered one of the top 10 ramen joints Vancouver.
The brand is known for adjusting their broth and tare sauce daily based on the weather and season.
They also developed their own ultra-fine noodles designed specifically for that satisfying “throat feel” and texture that pairs perfectly with the soup.
And best of all – their prices are quite affordable.
But if you are hoping to slurp a bowl of Horin soon, you will need to hold off.

The Horin team shared with Noms Magazine that there is currently no opening date set.
A peek inside the unit reveals that renovations haven’t actually begun yet. It is essentially an empty shell with signs on the outside.
So, we are likely looking at a wait of several months before the first bowl is served in Richmond.
Horin joins a growing list of upcoming food spots in Richmond like Hey Yearn, Oakberry, and Breka Bakery RC.
