Kitsilano Cafe With Drink Delivering Elevator Has Permanently Closed

Remember that Kitsilano cafe with the mini elevator that delivered your drinks to the second floor?

We discovered that Lumiere Cafe’s Greektown location on West Broadway has permanently closed.

A handwritten notice posted on the door confirms the closure, reading, “As of January 29, 2026, this location has permanently closed.”

The note from the Lumiere Cafe Team also directs customers to their original location at 521 West Broadway, adding, “Thank you for all your support and kindness.”

We spotted the notice earlier this week while walking by the space.

If you followed our earlier coverage, you might recall the excitement when Lumiere Cafe first announced its Kitsilano expansion.

The cafe opened on West Broadway near Macdonald back in late 2024, taking over a space that was previously a lingerie store.

One of the things that made the location stand out was a mini elevator that would automatically bring your drinks up to a second floor seating area.

Lumiere Cafe built its reputation on micro-roasting coffee beans in small batches daily, right on site.

The Kitsilano Greektown location lasted about 15 months and no reason was given for the closure.

The good news is that Lumiere Cafe is not gone entirely.

Their original location at 521 West Broadway near Cambie is still open and operating regular hours.

So if you are craving their micro-roasted coffee or one of those specialty lattes, you can still get your fix there.

It is unclear what will happen to the 2815 West Broadway space next.
