Back in February, we told you about theVenti, the South Korean coffee chain making its first-ever international debut right here in Richmond.
Well, fast forward to now—it’s officially open!
The South Korean coffee giant soft-launched on March 15th, quietly sliding into the local cafe scene with its oversized drinks and budget-friendly pricing.
TheVenti first hit the scene in Busan, South Korea back in March 2014, with a mission to serve solid coffee at reasonable prices.
Fast forward 10 years, and they’ve got around 1,300 franchises across South Korea—clearly, they’re doing something right.
And like every big Asian brand, you gotta have a popular celebrity as their ambassador.
For theVenti, it’s currently Dex, who was on Netflix’s Singles Inferno.
So, is it the next big thing for coffee lovers, or just another grab-and-go spot?
Well, we swung by to check it out.
First off, the brand prides itself on generous portions at reasonable prices. Each drink is available in two sizes.
Most drinks are cheaper than what you’d find at a hip 3rd wave specialty coffee shop, but don’t expect insane bargains if you’re going for a fancy drink.
We grabbed an iced einspanner, and after tax, it was still $7—not exactly a steal, but pretty on par with other cafes offering specialty drinks.
Although we chose the “less sweet” option, the drink was still very sweet. And this is coming from someone who usually gets 75% sugar for BBT.
Their menu covers classic coffees, iced lattes, fruit juices, and Korean-inspired drinks like Misugaru lattes (a Korean roasted multigrain powder) and Yulmu Latte.
They also have ice-blended creations for those who like their caffeine with a dessert twist.
The interior is giving modern minimalism with a splash of purple—theVenti’s signature color.
Right as you walk in, you’ll notice self-ordering touchscreens, making the whole experience feel sleek and efficient.
It’s got a clean, no-fuss layout, with the menu displayed on big-mounted TVs above the counter for easy browsing.
There is no seating available so you’ll sadly have to sit by the flower bed outside of CIBC bank next door.
Charlene, General Manager at theVenti Richmond, told Noms Magazine that Richmond was the perfect place for their first Canadian location because of its diverse food culture.
And they’re just getting started—theVenti’s second Canadian store is already set to open in Coquitlam in April 2025, with even more locations planned.
But let’s be real—Richmond is still very much a bubble tea city.
While Vancouver has a deep coffee culture, Richmond isn’t quite as caffeine-obsessed.
So, it’ll be interesting to see how theVenti fits into the scene longterm.
That said, it is nice to see something different than just another bubble tea spot.
