Another Main Street storefront has quietly turned over.

Tea Thyme Cafe, the cozy spot known for its afternoon tea sets and private events, has officially shut down.

The closure happened quietly last month with zero fanfare.

The cafe originally opened back in June 2023, taking over the unit previously occupied by The Gluten Fakery.

For the past year and a half, it built a reputation as a go-to spot for baby showers, bridal parties, and intimate birthday gatherings.

It was also one of the few places in the city serving unique “Tokyo banana-shaped waffles” alongside their dessert towers.

Strangely, the owners never made a formal departure announcement.

Their Instagram and website are still live, but the feed has been silent since November 3rd, when they were still promoting their “House Special Afternoon Tea for Two”.

However, the physical location confirms the story.

We spotted that the signage at the unit has already been changed, confirming that Tea Thyme has vacated the space for good.

Mitchie Matcha, a matcha brand that has been doing pop ups for the past year, is already in motion of moving in.

This adds to a growing string of recent exits in the Vancouver food scene.

Tea Thyme Cafe joins other recent closures including The Ellis, Kanadell Ya, and Jungle Room.
