If you have walked down Main Street recently, you might have noticed a sudden quietness at one of the block’s most unique dining spots.
After eight years of serving the neighbourhood, Restaurant Yugo has officially shut its doors.

A Noms Magazine community member spotted the closure notice taped to the window, confirming what many regulars feared.
According to the sign posted on the storefront, the closure is part of a larger shift for the company.

The notice states that the restaurant is “transitioning to a new business model as of December 22nd,” and that operations at this Main Street location have come to an end.
It brings an abrupt end to a run that started back in 2017.
Yugo was known for its ambitious concept that blended Japanese precision with French sophistication.
It was one of the few places where you could order a Makunouchi Bento alongside a rich Uni Pasta with house-marinated ikura.
The menu was always adventurous.
Regulars will miss the Foie Gras Don and the Confit Octopus with truffle mayo.
Even their sushi rolls had a unique flair, like the signature Yugo Roll topped with caramelized onions and beef tataki, or the Le Motown with tiger shrimp tempura.

However, this isn’t a total goodbye for the brand.
While the Main Street flagship is gone, their outpost at The Amazing Brentwood remains open.
That location, which opened in the TABLES food court in 2022, will continue serving their flame-seared aburi sushi.
If you are holding onto an unused gift card, don’t panic.
The closure notice confirms that you can email the manager for a refund, or simply use the card at their Brentwood location.
Yugo joins a tough list of recent closures in the city, including Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar on Broadway, Sulbing on Robson, and Holy Guacamole.
