A popular Vancouver ice cream shop is saying goodbye to one of its shops.

Mister Artisan Ice Cream, known for its made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, suddenly announced on October 17 that it would be closing its Kitsilano location the next day.

In their Instagram post, the team shared that construction in the area and ongoing disruptions had made it increasingly difficult for their small shop to operate effectively.

So they decided to not renew their lease.

The post thanked the Kitsilano community for their support and confirmed that the last day of service was Saturday, October 18.

“Thank you for the wonderful years,” the post read. “While we’re sad to say goodbye to this location, we look forward to continuing to serve you at our Yaletown and Robson Street shops.”

The comments section quickly filled with messages from longtime customers expressing their sadness.

One user wrote, “My favourite cycling pit stop. I’ll just have to pedal further for my ice cream fix,” while another added, “Supporters will continue to support.”

Many echoed a similar sentiment: disappointment mixed with loyalty toward Mister’s other two remaining locations.

Since opening in 2016, Mister has built a reputation for its ultra-smooth, rich ice cream made using liquid nitrogen, a process that flash-freezes ingredients at extremely low temperatures.

This technique not only creates a dense, creamy texture but also turns every scoop into a bit of a show.

Each order is crafted from scratch with pure, natural ingredients, with flavours that rotate seasonally.

Fans have loved everything from Buttered Popcorn and Genmaicha to collaborations like the Jalapeño Honey Ice Cream Sando created with Downlow Chicken Shack.

Even with the Kitsilano closure, Mister remains a core part of Vancouver’s dessert scene.

Their Yaletown and Robson Street shops are still open, continuing to serve up that signature cloud of liquid nitrogen magic.

Mister’s Kitsilano closure now joins other recent Vancouver food farewells, including Potluck Hawker Eatery, Hon’s Wonton House Broadway, and Ole Chicken.
