The smash burger spot that started as a food truck and took over Chinatown is about to get a second home.
Between 2 Buns has announced it is opening a second restaurant location at 4245 Fraser Street, with a soft launch set for March 26.
The announcement was first posted on the @between2bunsburgers Instagram page.
Here is the twist.
The Fraser Street location will run as a dual-concept space.
During the day, it will operate as Egg and Co., the brunch spot that already calls 4245 Fraser home.
In the evening, the space will transform into Between 2 Buns for dinner service.
“This spot will be home to Egg and Co. for breakfast/brunch service during the day, and turning into Between 2 Buns Burgers in the evening,” the post reads.
It is a creative setup that lets both brands share the same kitchen and dining room without competing for the same hours.
Between 2 Buns originally started as a roaming food truck, popping up at spots like Container Brewing, The Boxcar, and Main St Brewing.
The brand eventually landed a permanent home at 105 East Pender Street in Chinatown, taking over the space that previously housed Bestie.
Since then, the Chinatown location has built a loyal following for its straightforward smash burgers.
The menu is simple on purpose.
Thin, crispy-edged patties on soft buns with a strict no-mods and no-tomatoes policy.
You get what is on the menu and that is it.
The Fraser Street expansion marks a big shift for the brand, moving from a single location into a two-spot operation while keeping overhead manageable through the shared-space model.
No details have been shared about the Fraser Street menu or hours yet.
The announcement says more info is “coming VERY SOON” over the next few weeks.
Between 2 Buns now joins other upcoming food spots in Vancouver like Ricardo’s Kandy Korner in Yaletown, Hiyori Coffee, and Aura.
