New Coffee Shop With Korean Signature Drinks Opens In Downtown Vancouver

It looks like Downtown Vancouver quietly got a new coffee shop!

Taking over the previous Dunsmuir JJ Bean is Cafe Marie, which soft-opened last week.

And no, the name isn’t some random French inspiration—it’s actually named after the owner’s dog, Marie, an adorable Bichon Frise.

You’ll find Marie’s fluffy face makes an appearance on the cafe’s cups and in various photos around the shop.

The moment you walk in, you’re met with a sandwich case packed with options, perfect for a quick lunch or a grab-and-go bite.

Choices include sun-dried tomato and bocconcini sandwiches, spinach feta wraps, and chipotle roast beef sandwiches.

Right next to it is their baked goods display, but if you’re visiting later in the day, be warned—it might already be wiped out.

When we stopped by in the late afternoon, it was nearly empty.

The owner explained that everything is made fresh in-house daily, so it’s a good sign that things are selling out fast.

Their drink menu covers all the caffeinated essentials like lattes, americanos, and matcha, along with Murchies tea options.

But where it really gets interesting is the signature drinks section, which subtly nods to the owner’s Korean heritage.

Think Iced Banana Milk Latte, Roasted Grain Latte (Misutgaru), and Iced Butterscotch Cream Latte.

If you’re in the mood to switch up your usual coffee order, this might be the place to do it.

As for the interior, most of it still looks the same from its JJ Bean days with its exposed industrial beams and a mix of marble and gold accents, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere.

Natural light pours in from large windows, making it an ideal spot for working, catching up with friends, or simply sipping on a latte while enjoying the aesthetic.

The owner mentioned they’ll be constantly rotating items to keep things fresh and exciting, so expect the menu to evolve over time.

Cafe Marie now joins Jerusalem Shawarma, Stackhouse Steak Sandwich, and Pressato as one of the newest food spots in Downtown Vancouver.
