Richmond’s Award-Winning Hunan Restaurant Is Opening A New Noodle Shop

That corner unit across from Richmond Public Market has been through a lot of tenants over the years.

Now it looks like someone with serious credentials is moving in.

We spotted signs for Dao Field Noodle Shop (稻田粉面馆) up back in February, but it wasn’t until recently that there has been significant progress.

The new updated signage teases that this shop appears to be connected to Geng Shi Ji (耕食記), the award-winning Hunan restaurant over at Continental Shopping Centre.

A cube-shaped light box mounted outside displays both the Geng Shi Ji and Dao Field Noodle Shop logos side by side.

Not much is known about the menu yet, but the name offers some clues.

We’ll likely see spicy broths, dry mixed noodles loaded with chili oil, pickled toppings, and punchy savoury flavours that Geng Shi Ji is already known for.

If this follows the Hunan playbook, expect bold heat and layered seasoning rather than subtle simmered stocks.

The location itself has seen a revolving door of concepts over the years, with multiple tenants cycling through the corner unit.

We’ll see if whether Dao Field can break the curse remains to be seen, but having the backing of an established team with an existing following is a good start.

No opening date has been announced yet.

Dao Field now joins other upcoming food openings in the area like Yummy Rice Roll, Taoke, and Chengdu Noodle.
