New Japanese Gyudon With Solo Dining Booths Soft Opens Along West Broadway

It looks like the wait is finally over for West Broadway’s newest Japanese eatery.

Oishinoya, the gyudon-focused restaurant from the team behind Pokey Okey, has now soft opened as of October 29.

Currently, they are offering a limited menu and a unique dining experience inspired by Japan’s famous solo dining booths.

Located across from the Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain Station, the restaurant takes over the former 404 Coffee Lab space but keeps its signature private seating layout that was inherented from Ramen One.

The setup works similarly to Ichiran Ramen in Japan and is ideal for introverts or anyone craving a quiet meal.

Here’s how it works: guests start by ordering from the self-service kiosk near the entrance, then find a seat at one of the individual booths.

Each booth has a small service window where you place your order ticket and ring the bell to alert the staff.

Moments later, your meal is freshly prepared and delivered discreetly through the window, allowing for a calm, uninterrupted dining experience.

Oishinoya’s soft opening menu includes a selection of comforting rice bowls like Tama Gyudon, Kimchi Gyudon, Mentaiko Gyudon, Bara Chirashi Don, Unagi Don, and Karaage.

Each dish is crafted with premium Canadian-grown beef and perfectly cooked Japanese short-grain rice, simple ingredients made with care.

To celebrate their soft opening, Oishinoya is offering 10 percent off all bowls from October 31 to November 5.

The 404 Coffee takeout window beside the restaurant remains open, meaning guests can still grab a drink to pair with their gyudon.

With its cozy booths, streamlined service, and hearty Japanese flavours, Oishinoya brings something fresh and distinctive to West Broadway.

This new Broadway location marks one of its second dine-in expansions, with another full buildout underway inside the upcoming food hall across from CF Richmond Centre.

There, Oishinoya will open alongside Pokey Okey and a new Japanese café concept called Nonbiri.

Oishinoya now joins the growing list of recently launched Vancouver food spots, including Viet Street Food CafeHappy Sushi Victoria, and Nizu Cafe.
