One area that is seeing a culinary resurgence is no doubt Fraser Street – which recently added two new MICHELIN-recognized restaurants in the area: Bravo and Zab Bite.
Well, the area continues to thrive as a new Vietnamese restaurant just soft opened in the area.
Say hello to Madame Danh, the new 16-seat eatery that blends traditional Vietnamese dishes with creative international twists.
Madame Danh is the dream come true for chef-owner Tyson, who grew up in Vietnam learning to cook from his mom, later rekindling his passion for the culinary arts upon moving to Canada in 2012.
Inspired by his grandmother, Mrs. Danh, Tyson trained in some of BC’s top kitchens—including West, Miku, and Como Taperia—before finally launching Madame Danh.
The restaurant is his own tribute to the vibrant flavours of his heritage.
“I’ve always dreamed of running my own business. Madame Danh is the realization of that dream,” he shared with Noms Magazine.
The menu here offers a blend of Vietnamese flavours paired with international ingredients, resulting in dishes that are both familiar and fresh.
Highlights include the crispy soft shell crab spring rolls, served with shrimp, pork, and a tangy lemon mayo, and Madame Danh’s AAA steak phở—a comforting bowl that strikes the perfect balance of hearty and delicate.
The latter being a fitting item for the incoming colder weather.
Adventurous foodies can also enjoy the squid ink fried rice, offering a distinct new twist on classic fried rice, or the maple fish sauce-glazed roasted rainbow carrots, which are as vibrant on the plate as they are on the palate.
Vegetarians are not left out.
Tony’s use of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients extends to dishes that cater to a range of diets.
The restaurant’s interior takes inspiration from Tyson Vietnamese roots, with sleek, modern lines mixed with rich textures and deep earth tones that create a cozy, intimate atmosphere.
Vietnamese-inspired murals and photos add a splash of vibrant color, making the space perfect for date nights or casual gatherings.
With a 16-seat capacity, Madame Danh is an ideal spot for those looking for an inviting yet intimate dining experience.
Tony chose the Fraser neighbourhood for its diverse community and growth opportunities.
“I look forward to actively participating in Fraser’s community events and festivals, fostering meaningful connections with neighbours,” Tyson said.
To celebrate its arrival, Madame Danh will be running a soft opening from October 8th to 13th with 10% off all orders.
