New Family-Run Vietnamese Steam Rice Roll Spot Opens In Burnaby

After a few months of anticipation, Burnabyโ€™s newest Vietnamese comfort spot has officially opened its doors.

Back in June, we first shared that a new steam rice roll specialty shop called 2025 Cafe was getting ready to open near Metrotown.

Well, the wait is over as we stumbled upon open doors this week.

The family-run eatery quietly opened this past Monday, October 6th taking over the former Pokey Okey space.

A banner out front announces a 15% off promotion for the first two weeks – a perfect reason for you to check it out now.

We hopped in anonymously with excitement.

Inside, the cafe has a clean and cozy setup, with about half a dozen tables, bright yellow floral decor, hanging lanterns, and touches of greenery lining the walls.

The vibe feels casual and homely, exactly what youโ€™d expect from a family-owned spot where the dad and mom cook in the kitchen while their daughter handles front-of-house service.

As for the menu, itโ€™s all about Vietnamese comfort eats with a focus on traditional bรกnh cuแป‘n, or steamed rice rolls.

Guests can choose from options like the vegetarian Bรกnh Cuแป‘n Chay, Prawn Steamed Rice Roll (Bรกnh Cuแป‘n Tรดm), and even Water Fern Cake (Bรกnh Bรจo Nhรขn Tรดm).

The menu also includes small plates and appetizers like Mango Summer Rolls, Papaya Salad, and Cudweed Cakes, along with Vietnamese desserts such as Coconut Sago and Sweet Potato Balls with jelly.

For drinks, thereโ€™s the classic Cร  Phรช Sแปฏa, Salted Coffee, and house-made fruit sodas.

We asked the staff for a recommendation and tried the Cuแป‘n Hร nh (Mango Onion Roll) with peanut sauce, the Bรกnh Cuแป‘n Tรดm (Prawn Steamed Rice Roll) with bone broth sauce, and an iced Cร  Phรช Sแปฏa.

For us, the Mango Onion Roll was the standout.

The combination of shrimp, ham, and fresh mango was unexpectedly delicious with the creamy peanut dip.

The coffee, though, leaned a bit on the lighter side.

Itโ€™s clear that 2025 Cafe is a labour of love for the family behind it, blending authenticity with warmth.

For those in Burnaby looking for a new Vietnamese spot that offers something beyond the usual phแปŸ and bรกnh mรฌ, this might just be your next go-to.

2025 Cafe now joins other recently opened Burnaby food spots like Haidilao Express Malatang at Brentwood, Big Way Hot Pot Gilmore, and Dolce Amore Caffetteria.
