The wait is finally over!
Hanoi Old Quarters, beloved for its Northern Vietnamese flair, has quietly reopened in Kitsilano’s Greektown.
After our initial reporting back in August, a community member (Andrea) reached out to let us know that the soft opening officially took place on September 21st.
Originally opened on Victoria Drive in 2019 as a sister spot to the well-known Mr. Red Cafe, Hanoi Old Quarters was cherished for its rustic charm and dishes.
After its sudden closure in late 2023, fans were left wondering if they’d ever get another taste of that unique experience.
Now, they can breathe a sigh of relief as the restaurant makes its upscale comeback, taking over the former Kitstaya Sushi corner unit in Kitsilano.
Note that this isn’t your run-of-the-mill affordable hole-in-the-wall pho spot.
Owners Rose Nguyen and Chef Hong Duong have worked tirelessly to bring this cherished spot back to life, offering an elevated dining experience infused with bold Northern Vietnamese flavours.
The new Hanoi Old Quarters isn’t just about food—it’s about creating a memorable sensory journey.
With dishes like Vietnamese crepe, oxtail pho, and grilled pork belly with sweet and sour fish sauce, the menu has something for everyone.
Plus, the introduction of creative signature cocktails, each crafted to reflect the essence of Vietnamese culture, adds an extra layer to the experience.
Inside, the revamped space welcomes guests with vibrant Vietnamese-inspired lanterns hanging from the ceiling, setting the perfect blend of cozy and modern.
The design perfectly captures Vietnamese cultural aesthetics while offering a comfortable spot for both casual dinners and intimate gatherings.
