Get ready, Vancouver!
A fresh and innovative concept is about to land downtown.
A community member (vancity_munchie) recently spotted signage for Brooklyn Dumpling Shop on Robson Street, set to take over the former Food Republic unit.
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, founded in 2021 by NYC restaurateur Stratis Morfogen, is not your typical dumpling joint.
It’s a smartphone-powered, automat-style shop requiring just three employees.
Order your dumplings through your phone and collect them from hot or cold lockers inside the restaurant.
Morfogen, also known for Brooklyn Chop House and the Philippe Chow Restaurant Group, touts the automat’s cost-effectiveness, error elimination, and low payroll.
Even Shark Tank stars Kevin O’Leary and Matt Higgins are on board, recently investing to help grow the brand.
The menu at Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is all about specialty dumplings with a modern twist.

You can also indulge in Desserts like Smashed Dumplings with flavors like Apple Pie, PB & J, and Brownie, or grab an Ice Cream Cup in Vanilla, Cherry Cheesecake, or Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.
Don’t miss the BK Famous Peanut Noodles or Crispy Bites with cauliflower, chicken, shrimp, or plant-based chicken, and flavours like famous peanut sauce or sweet & sour.
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop currently has one location in Calgary, but plans are in motion to open 100 stores across the country.
