It looks like one of Richmond’s most popular Taiwanese restaurants is expanding to the Burquitlam area.

Lower Mainland Eats’ Group admin Gerri spotted signage for Memory Corner up on the former Wings Restaurant building at the corner of North Road and Lougheed Highway.

The Memory Corner team has confirmed to Noms Magazine that they are officially expanding with their first Burnaby-Coquitlam (Burquitlam) location.

We swung by this week and saw a new sign at the front of the building has just been installed yesterday, marking another step toward opening.

For those unfamiliar, Memory Corner is a well-loved Taiwanese restaurant famous for its nostalgic, fully decked-out interior and authentic dishes.

It is known to make diners feel like they’ve stepped into a bustling outdoor street market in Taiwan’s past.

The story behind the restaurant is one rooted in family tradition.

The Wu family’s culinary legacy began in 1975 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, when Grandpa Wu left a secure job to pursue his passion for Taiwanese lamb cuisine.

His dedication led to the creation of Wu Family Lamb Hotpot, a local favourite that became a symbol of home-cooked comfort.

After immigrating to Canada, the Wu family continued this legacy through the next generations, leading to the founding of Memory Dining Group and the eventual opening of Memory Corner in Richmond in 2013.

While the team has been tight lipped about details for the new location’s menu or decor, it’s likely to feature the same old-style ambiance and classic Taiwanese dishes like lamb hot pot, stir-fried noodles, fried snacks, and Taiwanese beer.

Before knowing it was going to be Memory Corner, we took a peek inside and found it prime to mimic the interior of Richmond’s outpost.

August 2025

The new restaurant will also bring something fresh to the neighbourhood, as it’s one of the few Chinese restaurants to open in Burquitlam’s K-Town area, where Korean food spots dominate.
