Richmond is already home to a cat cafe (and plenty of bubble tea spots), but the city is about to get a whole lot fluffier.

For the first time ever, Richmond is getting a dedicated Bunny Lounge where you can cuddle with rescue rabbits.

Cozy Carrots is officially opening its doors on Saturday, January 24th, located on Minoru Blvd and nearby Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel.

Unlike a typical pet store, this is an experience-first venue.

Guests can book 30 or 60-minute sessions to hang out in the “Bunny Lounge,” a dedicated space designed for relaxing with the animals.

A 30-minute visit includes a veggie cup so you can hand-feed the bunnies yourselves.

Whereas the 60-minute visit tacks on a complimentary beverage.

Cozy Carrots is a passion project by owners Vivian and Ken, a local couple who have been “rabbit parents” for over 15 years.

Vivian, who works a corporate job by day, shared with Noms Magazine that the goal is to “educate the public about the issue of pet rabbits being abandoned in Metro Vancouver, as well as show case bunnies as pets.”

“We have always felt they were often overlooked as companions.”

All the rabbits at Cozy Carrots are rescues from Rabbitats Rescue Society, and many were facing euthanasia before being taken in.

The rabbits at Cozy Carrots are all adoptable, meaning you might just meet your new best friend during your visit.

The shop has around 7 bunnies and is cutely named as Mushroom, Taco, and Salad.

The space is designed to feel like a living room.

Aside from the bunny play area, there is a dedicated retail section for bunny-themed and Miffy merch, plus a curated collection of rabbit-related novels and colouring pages for kids.

Vivian shared that they also plan to host movie nights in the future, allowing guests to watch films while cuddling a bunny.

For those planning a visit, there are a few important housekeeping rules to keep the animals safe.

Guests must be at least four years old to enter the lounge, and children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

While walk-ins are accepted, the owners highly recommend making a reservation online or by phone, as spots are not guaranteed without one.

Cozy Carrots will be grand opening on January 24th.
