Another stall in Aberdeen Centre’s food court has gone dark, and this time it looks permanent.
Haoyijia (好一家), the beef rice noodle vendor on the food court level of Aberdeen Centre in Richmond, appears to have quietly shut down.
We first noticed the stall was closed during a visit in early March.
On multiple return trips to the food court since then, the stall has remained shuttered with no signage explaining the closure and no indication of when or if it would reopen.
The stall has also been listed for sale for some time now, which signals this is not a temporary pause.
Haoyijia specialized in Chinese-style beef noodle soups and rice bowls.
The menu featured rice noodle soup, ramen noodle soup, beef noodles in tomato sauce, and braised beef over rice.
They also offered sides like beef mini buns and soy braised eggs.
Reviews were not kind.
The stall sat at a 3.2 out of 5 from 46 reviews on Google, with recurring complaints about bland flavour and small portion sizes.
For a food court noodle stall competing against some of the strongest options in Richmond, that is a tough position to sustain.
No official closing announcement was ever posted.
This is the latest in a series of changes hitting Aberdeen Centre’s food scene.
The mall has already seen the lease termination of Garaku Soup Curry, the closure of both Meiten Japanese Katsu and Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle, and the for-sale listings of Hazukido Cafe Plus and ChoCho.
But it is not all departures.
A new hot pot concept called Taoke Boil and Sizzle is taking over the former Chef Hung unit on the second floor, and the old Meiten space has already been leased to a new tenant.
The food court continues to cycle through vendors at a pace that reflects both the competition and the cost of operating inside the mall.
Haoyijia now joins other recently closed food spots in Richmond like YGF Malatang, Manzo Izakaya, and Little Karp.
