Richmond Alexandra Road is about to lose another longtime eatery.
A Noms Mag community member spotted a closure announcement from Cherry’s Food House, which shared that they will be shutting their doors after September 14.
In their heartfelt post, the team thanked customers for years of support and memories while hinting that something new is already being prepared behind the scenes.
Cherry’s Food House opened back in 2018 on Alexandra Road with its lineup of comforting Korean Chinese dishes.
Popular items included seafood pancake, soondubu, honey butter boneless wings, spicy chicken feet, bossam, cold noodle soup, and the rich and savoury jajangmyeon.
For a time, they also operated a food court stall at Aberdeen Centre that offered a similar menu, but that spot quietly shut down earlier this summer.
Cherry’s found itself in the spotlight last year when a controversial influencer tasting went viral.
The influencer, invited for a collaboration, ordered over $600 worth of food (nearly the entire menu), sparking online debate about respect for restaurants.
The closure adds to a string of recent changes along Alexandra Road.
Earlier this summer, both HuDa and Chengdu Spicy Restaurant also closed, marking a season of transition for one of Richmond’s busiest food stretches.
For fans of Cherry’s Food House, there is still a little time left to stop by before September 14 for one last meal.
After that, the restaurant will close this chapter and begin preparing for whatever is coming next.
