Another food stall has quietly disappeared from one of Richmond’s busiest food courts.
We spotted Cherry’s Tofu House completely cleared out, with just the sign still up, at Aberdeen Centre.
Inside the stall, the crew was already starting on renovations at the former stall.
According to one of the workers on site, a Middle Eastern BBQ concept is set to take over the space. This is not confirmed, though.
Cherry’s Tofu House was a budget-friendly option serving Korean and Chinese comfort food like seafood tofu soup, pork bone soup, and bibimbap.
In fact, many of the items were priced at just $9.99.
The stall was operated by the same team behind Cherry’s Food House, a sit-down Korean-Chinese fusion restaurant on Alexandra Road.
That location made headlines last year after a controversial influencer tasting went viral.
The influencer, who was invited for a collab, ordered over $600 worth of food – essentially the entire menu – before leaving with heaps of leftovers.
While the owner wasn’t present at the time, the incident was later shared on Instagram as a cautionary tale for small businesses navigating the influencer world.
Oddly enough, the Instagram profile for the restaurant is still posting about its food court outpost as if it is still operating.
With Cherry’s Tofu House now cleared out, the Aberdeen Centre food court continues to evolve.
Earlier this summer, Shanghai Morning closed and has now been replaced by Shanghai Winning Baozi.
Potato Corner also shut down in the spring, making way for Canada’s first Max’s To Go concept that is in the works.
No timeline has been shared yet for the new BBQ spot’s arrival, but the space is already under transformation.
