The wait for Burnaby’s most anticipated Malaysian opening is over.

Back in September, we broke the news that Richmond legend John 3:16 Malaysian Delights was taking over the former SOJU unit on Kingsway.

At the time, the “Coming Soon” signage was just a tease.

But now, the team has officially confirmed their launch date.

John 3:16 Malaysian Delights will open its doors to the public this Thursday, December 18th at 11:00 AM.

For those who don’t know the backstory, this brand is a genuine local success story.

Owner Daniel Chew started with a humble stall in the Richmond Public Market back in 2009.

That small operation eventually grew into one of Richmond’s top-rated restaurants and later expanded to Vancouver.

This will mark their fourth location in Metro Vancouver.

Speaking to Noms Magazine about the Burnaby expansion, the John 3:16 team explained, “We chose Metrotown because it’s such a lively, multicultural neighborhood, and we’re excited to bring the taste of Malaysian cuisine closer to the community there.”

Now, they are bringing those same heavy-hitting flavours, like rich beef rendang and spicy kari laksa, to the Metrotown area.

To celebrate the launch, they are running a very solid promotion.

From opening day until January 31st, you can get 10% off your entire bill when you dine in.

Just be aware of their specific operating hours before you head out.

The restaurant will run on split shifts: lunch from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and dinner from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

They join a wave of recent arrivals in Burnaby, including Chibugan To, Song Huong, and Hui Flavor.
