Richmond ramen lovers, the wait is over!
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, a beloved Japanese ramen chain, is finally ready to open its new Richmond outpost.
Their newest outlet at Saba Road is set to grand open this Friday, January 12th (check their grand open promo below).
Ever since we spotted their coming soon signs in June, many Richmond locals have been waiting for it to open, especially given the central location.
Who is Santouka?
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, a name synonymous with authentic Japanese ramen, has been delighting taste buds since the 1980s.
Known for its unique shio ramen, the chain has established itself as a household favorite. Their secret lies in the meticulously prepared white tonkotsu (pork bone) soup, simmered to perfection to bring out a delicate flavor that resonates with all ages and palates.
The chain’s dedication to preserving the integrity of their soup is evident in the specially ordered donburi (ramen bowls) – a hallmark of the Santouka brand.
This opening marks the brand’s third venture in Metro Vancouver, adding to their popular locations on West Broadway and Robson Street.
Fans of Santouka can expect the same beloved menu at the Richmond location, ensuring that their signature dishes remain a staple.
The new Saba Road location steps away from the traditional design of its counterparts, embracing a brighter ambiance.
From simple white tables, to a large communal table, to a long light wooden bench placed in the middle of the restaurant, all of this creates an inviting atmosphere.
Unique to this location is a small convenience store section within the restaurant.
Here you can shop for a variety of small Japanese goods like curry, snacks, sauces, beverages, and even frozen food items. Consider it a tiny convenience store.
Grand Opening Festivities
To mark this occasion, Santouka is hosting a grand opening event from Friday to Sunday.
They are generously offering free ramen coupons to a select number of customers each day – a delicious incentive for the first 200 customers on the 12th and the first 100 customers on both the 13th and 14th.
These coupons can be redeemed on future visits, giving you a reason to return for more of their ramen fix.
Considering its proximity to the Canada Line Station, the bus stop right outside its doors, and the many high rises in the area, we don’t doubt that this location will be a busy one!
