Richmond residents, rejoice!
If you’re a ramen enthusiast, you’ll be excited to learn that one of the best ramen shops, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, is opening a their first outpost in Richmond.
Compared to Vancouver, Richmond has only a handful of top-notch Japanese ramen joints, but this new addition promises to elevate the local ramen scene.
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka first made a name for itself in the 1980s with its shio ramen served with a small, pickled plum in a unique round bowl. The white tonkotsu (pork bone) soup was developed through trial and error, ultimately resulting in a mild, gentle flavour that has garnered rave reviews.
The donburi (ramen bowl) used at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka was specially ordered by the founder to maintain the soup’s temperature and ensure the flavour remains intact. The colour of the donburi is now considered a symbol of the brand.
Santouka’s dedication to creating a mild-tasting soup involves boiling pork bones for an extended period, ensuring the soup remains approachable for customers of all ages.
So if your soup isn’t piping hot, that is by design!
While the exact location of the new Richmond outpost remains under wraps (we know where ;)), our sources suggest it will be situated near the Richmond Brighouse Skytrain Station and Richmond Public Market.
This will be Santouka’s third location in British Columbia, joining the already thriving West Broadway and West End branches.
Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming opening of Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Richmond, and get ready to satisfy your ramen cravings!
