The Cambie Street space that housed a 25-year Malaysian institution has quietly changed hands again.
Sedap Plus Malaysian Cuisine, the restaurant that took over the longtime Tropika address along Cambie Street in May 2025, has shut down less than a year after opening.

We spotted coming soon banners in the front windows of the unit for a new tenant moving in.
On Google, the restaurant is also listed as Permanently Closed.
A look at recent Google reviews suggests Sedap Plus actually wrapped up sometime in March or early April without any announcement.
The Cambie address is a well-known one in Vancouver’s Malaysian dining scene.
Tropika had operated at that exact spot since 1999, racking up a 25-year run before calling it quits last year.
When Sedap Plus opened on May 1, 2025, the project was helmed by the same chef from Tropika, keeping the Malaysian lineage on the block alive.

The menu leaned into Malaysian comfort-food staples like rendang, nasi lemak, and laksa, served in what the team described as a family-run, home-style setting.
Taking over the Cambie corner is VadaPav Mirchi By Geeta, the New Westminster restaurant known for authentic Mumbai and Maharashtrian street food.
VadaPav Mirchi By Geeta bills itself as one of the only spots in Canada going deep on Maharashtrian cooking, with a fully vegetarian menu.
For regulars of the Cambie block, it is a pretty big cuisine flip.
Sedap Plus now joins a growing list of recent Vancouver food closures that we have been tracking, including Sunflower Bubble Tea, Handson Steak, and Dix.
