Steveston is losing a favourite.

Ember Indian Kitchen has announced it will close at the end of the month.

The Steveston spot shared the news on Instagram on August 16, alongside a note inviting regulars in for one last meal and toast.

Their final day of service is Sunday, August 31, 2025.

On their website, owners Farida and Amin Sunderji called it a bittersweet goodbye as they retire and start a new chapter.

They thanked guests for years of dinners, celebrations, and casual catch-ups that turned into lasting memories.

If you know Ember, you know the vision started back in 2017.

Farida and Amin set out to bring a unique fusion of East African and East Indian cuisines to Steveston and the wider Metro Vancouver community.

It was a love letter to the flavours they grew up with.

Menus leaned into rich and aromatic curries, tandoori, and street food inspirations from Kampala and Mombasa.

Regulars came for comforting plates, warm hospitality, and that riverside neighbourhood vibe that makes Steveston an easy yes for dinner plans.

Closures never feel good, especially when it is a place that carried stories from first dates to family birthdays.

Emberโ€™s farewell adds to a tough run in Richmond, following recent goodbyes from Shuyi Tealicious, HuDa, and Pearl Castle.

If Ember is part of your rotation, consider this your nudge to swing by before the doors close.

The team says they would love to welcome you for one last round of favourites and a chance to say thanks in person.
