It looks like another longtime food spot has quietly disappeared.
Meet Fresh, the beloved Taiwanese dessert chain, has shut down its Robson Street location after 8 years of operation.
Their Richmond location has also shuttered but is relocating.
We first caught wind of the closure when a Noms Community member tipped us off about rumors that both the Richmond and Robson Street locations might be shutting down.
Two weeks later, it’s now confirmed—the downtown Vancouver Meet Fresh location is now tagged as permanently closed on Google.
Whereas, the Richmond location has its sign covered up and an announcement notice saying that they will be moving to a new location and to follow for more updates.
This comes with no official announcement on their Vancouver Instagram page about either location’s status.
For those unfamiliar, Meet Fresh has been serving up authentic Taiwanese desserts since 2007, founded by Sister and Brother Fu, whose family has been farming for generations in Taichung, Taiwan.
Their mission was to bring traditional Taiwanese flavours—like herbal jelly, handmade taro balls, and delicate shaved ice—to the international stage.
The brand has locations around the world, including England, Japan, Thailand, New Zealand and more.
Meet Fresh’s entrance into BC happened back in 2017, opening along Robson Street and in Union Square.
The closure of Meet Fresh’s Richmond location is another hit to Union Square, a plaza that’s seen a lot of turnover in the past few months.
It also follows the closure of BlackBall, another dessert spot that specialized in grass jelly and shaved ice, leaving a gap in the area’s dessert offerings.
As for what’s next?
Rumors are swirling that Molly Tea might be taking over the Union Square location, but considering how large that unit is…it might not be.
