Many would think that Steveston Village would be the least likely places for crime, thanks to its tranquil atmosphere and location.
But locals are confused from a bizarre daytime theft at Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt that left everyone shaking their heads.
On October 16th, what was a seemingly ordinary Wednesday afternoon, a man was caught on video scooping gelato with his bare hands behind the counter.

The incident, filmed by Kaitlyn Sieg, daughter of a local deli owner, quickly went viral on Tiktok after being posted by Fraser Valley Buzz and has sparked concern in the community.
Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt, a beloved Steveston Village spot known for its delicious homemade frozen yogurt and gelato, has become a staple for visitors and locals since its opening in 1989.
In the shocking video, Kaitlyn can be heard confronting the man as he walks behind the gelato shop’s counter.
“Hey!” she shouted, alerting him that police had already been called.
According to the report by both Richmond News and Global News, Sieg stated that this wasn’t the first encounter the store had with the man.
He allegedly attempted to dine and dash at Timothy’s just days earlier and at another nearby restaurant some time ago.
The video continues with the man literally scooping gelato with his bare hands and then walking off.
Other onlookers in the store were also caught in disbelief.
The other outlets state that Timothy’s remained closed for the remainder of Wednesday after the incident to ensure the safety of their employees.
Apparently, the police have since apprehended the man for another unrelated incident.
For a quiet and relatively safe area in Richmond, this was definitely very alarming for locals.
It will no doubt be another concern residents will be considering during this election period.
