30 Year Old Ontario Tofu Pudding Shop Opens Sister Outpost ‘Yuan Soy Food’ In Vancouver

Tofu pudding fans, the wait is finally over.

Earlier this month we shared that one of Ontario’s best tofu pudding shop is landing in Vancouver.

Well, Yuan Soy Food has officially opened its Vancouver outpost on the ground floor of First Avenue Marketplace, and if opening weekend is any indication, this spot is going to be a hit.

We swung by on Victoria Day long weekend to check it out for ourselves, and we weren’t the only ones.

There was already a line stretching a block long outside the shop.

Not bad for a drizzle-soaked long weekend.

As a quick refresher: Yuan Soy Food is the sister brand of Ontario’s beloved Yan’s Soy Foods, a tofu dessert shop that’s been serving the GTA since 1997.

“After nearly three decades of sharing their soy-based desserts with families in the GTA, the team is excited to bring that same heart and heritage to the West Coast,” they shared with Noms Magazine.

Yuan Soy Food is a family-run business rooted in tradition, focusing on tofu fa (豆腐花) – silky-smooth tofu pudding, served warm or chilled.

Their tofu fa has built a serious rep out east, and Vancouverites have been eagerly waiting to see if it stacks up.

Spoiler alert: it absolutely does.

We bought a handful of their freshly made soy-based offerings: hot tofu pudding, almond tofu pudding, ginger pudding, and almond soy milk.

All were made in-house, preservative-free, and served warm, which was perfect for the rainy weather.

Even our dad gave it a thumbs up, which is saying something.

But here’s our hot take: after saving half in the fridge to test it cold, we might prefer it that way.

The texture holds beautifully, and the flavours really pop.

We’ll definitely be going back to try more, especially that chocolate tofu pudding we missed this round.

Prices start at just $3.25 for a classic soy pudding, with almond, ginger, coconut, chocolate, and grass jelly versions going for around $3.75.

You can also pick up soy milk drinks in cup or bottle form, ranging from $2.35 to $9 depending on size.

The shop’s interior keeps things minimalist but cozy, with white counters, light wood tones, and clean menu boards overhead.

Yuan Soy Food brings something special – a little nostalgia, a lot of heart, and a legacy nearly 30 years strong.

Let us know if you’re team warm or cold tofu pudding.
