As food costs rise and the economy struggles, all-you-can-eat establishments have become increasingly scarce.
This is especially true for all-you-can-eat sushi spots in Metro Vancouver, which have dwindled down to just a few.
Initially, it seemed that longtime all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant Tomokazu might make a comeback after being sold to new owners in March 2021.
However, the revival was short-lived due to issues between the owners and the landlord, causing the restaurant to eventually close down once again.
But since it came back once, we thought it would again after management sorted things out. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case…
Recently, our patrol around West Broadway discovered a completely new eatery taking over Tomokazu’s former space. This meant the final nail in the coffin for the all-you-can-eat sushi spot.
For many locals, this marks the end of an era, as Tomokazu was a beloved fixture for 10+ years, offering affordable all-you-can-eat sushi and a place to create lasting memories.
While all-you-can-eat sushi isn’t typically known for its top-notch quality, it has always been a popular option for gatherings with friends and family.
The closure of Tomokazu serves as a reminder that life is ever-changing, and long-established venues will not be around forever.
