Richmond’s dining scene is about to get a little more exciting.
After a year of delay, the massive 200-seater upscale restaurant cocktail lounge – House of Dawn – is set to open doors this Fall.
The restaurant pays homage to old Shanghai’s “golden era” and will offer a blend of Asian-inspired and global cuisines in a stylish setting.
But it’s not just about the food here.
The concept behind House of Dawn revolves around creating a “social sanctuary”, where culinary culture meets community.
Its five distinct areas will allow guests to unwind, socialize, and enjoy a dining experience – regardless if it is for a small or large gathering.
Founded by Chef Danny Deng, who has honed his skills in some of Vancouver’s top kitchens, and his business partner Ivan Li, House of Dawn is the culmination of years of experience and passion for innovative cuisine.
Chef Deng, originally from Changsha, China, brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to the table, having trained under Top Chef Canada alum Chef Xin Mao at M8 Bistro and Bar.
The menu will feature a mix of familiar flavours and bold new combinations, all crafted with the utmost attention to detail.
Apparently, House of Dawn claims it will strike a balance between an upscale dining experience with an affordable price point.
That may be tough in the current economy but if it’s true, we (and the locals) will welcome it with open arms.
The official opening date has yet to be announced, but House of Dawn will join Gyubee as some of the most highly anticipated openings in Richmond this Fall.
