New Vancouver Cafe Blends Japanese Zen Garden Vibes With West Coast Charm

Metro Vancouver’s cafe scene has been BUZZING with new openings lately.

We’re not complaining since we love exploring new coffee shops!

If you’re someone who loves discovering cozy coffee havens, well – there’s a fresh spot to add to your list.

Aidan’s Cafe, which debuted in Coal Harbour back in 2020, has officially opened its second location, this time on West Broadway.

This new location quietly opened its doors in early January and is conveniently located at the West Broadway and Willow Street complex, right near Vancouver’s bustling healthcare district.

This is one of those modern aesthetic cafes to take those Instagram shots at.

According to the interior design firm (Barbel) & construction company (AD Projects) behind the new spot, the design is described as a serene escape that blends Japanese zen garden vibes with modern West Coast design.

That means real greenery, Squamish riverbed stone tables, and micro-cement accents across the counter and planters.

There’s even a backlit bookcase area at the end of the cafe.

And if you’re into tiny details, keep an eye out for the adorable coffee bean and cup-shaped Jellycats adding a touch of whimsy to the vibe.

Aidan’s Cafe comes with a unique story.

Founded by local actor Aidan Wang, this cafe was born out of his ambition to create financial stability while pursuing his acting career.

In an interview with Collabs.io, Aidan shared how running a cafe taught him it’s about more than just personal success.

“Making the business grow and thrive is for everyone on our team,” he reflected, highlighting his sense of responsibility to his staff. It’s a heartfelt story that adds even more character to this cozy spot.

As for the menu, caffeine lovers can enjoy their favourite classics, from lattes to americanos.

There’s also a standout option: the Coconut Banana Latte, which sounds as indulgent as it is intriguing.

Their takeout cups, featuring a daffodil and the uplifting phrase “have a great day,” add a bit of sunshine to your day.

On the baked goodie side, you’ll find items from Butterboom Bakery and Doe Coffee, including croissants and donuts.

They also offer hearty breakfast items like the Brekkie Sandwich (scrambled eggs, avocado, arugula, and garlic aioli on sourdough) and lunch offerings such as the Beef Brisket Sandwich and Honey Chicken Wrap.

I know this all sounds amazing…but there is 2 downsides.

Aidan’s Cafe unfortunately closes at 5 PM on weekdays and isn’t open on weekends.

So, while it’s perfect for a peaceful midweek escape, night owls and weekend warriors might be out of luck.
