It looks like another quiet transformation has happened on the food scene.
The yellow‑and‑red Chicken World storefront at 1707 Kingsway has quietly shut its doors.
In its place: a freshly painted black facade reading SPACE CHICKEN -complete with a rocket logo.
Crews finished the switch‑over this month, and the new tenant is already selling fried‑chicken burgers and buckets.
Menu boards spotted inside show the same fried chicken and burgers, but Bollywood‑themed item names have been replaced by planet puns like the Venus and Uranus burgers.
Chicken World’s Kingsway outlet opened in 2022 and drew crowds with Chicken Burgers, Nashville‑style tenders, onion rings and even poutine.
Three other Chicken World locations remain in Metro Vancouver (Fraser St, Scott Rd, Victoria Dr) plus one in Victoria, and signs point to an upcoming Calgary expansion.
Chicken World launched in 2018, founded by Adeel Jahangir, a Pakistani immigrant who once worked at KFC (as reported by VIA).
He and his brother built a fast‑food concept that mixed classic fried chicken with South‑Asian spices.
Their menu was known for fun items named after Bollywood movie characters – think the Sholay burger or Karima chicken.
Earlier this month, Chinese-Canadian Fighter Chicken also closed one of their Vancouver locations.
Have you walked by Kingsway recently or tried Space Chicken’s planetary menu?
