Downtown Vancouver French Bakery Cafe Gets Property Seized For Alleged $90,000+ Of Outstanding Debt

It looks like one Downtown Vancouver has faced an unfortunate end.

Bisou Bake House, an artisan French bakery that first started in West Vancouver in 2006, has quietly closed its Telus Gardens location in downtown Vancouver.

Known for their artisan pastries and premium breads, Bisou expanded to Telus Gardens in late December 2023, hoping to bring their delightful confections to the bustling downtown area.

However, it seems things didn’t quite go as planned.

A community member (vancity_munchie) recently spotted a Notice of Seizure & Warrant at the Telus Gardens location issued by AHC Professional Bailiffs Ltd.

The notice ordered the seizure of property on November 1st due to an outstanding debt of $95,369.88.

We’re certain what the monthly rent is, but that is a significant amount to be owed for a cafe that opened 11 months ago…

The notice listed all goods and chattels in the bakery were to be seized.

In an Instagram post, a local asked about their Telus Gardens location.

Bisou Bakery responded that the closure of their Telus Gardens location was due to slow traffic, which is somewhat surprising considering the number of office workers at Telus Gardens and around the area.

It seems that despite the busy surroundings, fierce competition from multiple other bakery-cafes in the area made it tough to thrive.

From what it looks like, their other two locations, in the West End and West Vancouver, are continuing operations as usual.
