Another player in Vancouver’s bubble tea scene has recently closed.
South Granville’s Momono Tea Shop announced on their official Instagram that it has closed after its lease expired in late September.
Its final day of service was September 21.
In their message, staff looked back on the journey from opening to becoming a favourite bubble tea spot, saying every smile and kind word made the hard work worthwhile.
Momono first opened in September 2020, during the height of the pandemic, and carved out a loyal following over five years.
At launch, the team described it as “the first Japanese-style bubble tea shop that focuses on high-quality beverages in Greater Vancouver.”
That quality-first approach became their signature: fresh fruit, premium dairy, and no shortcuts on ingredients.
Over time, the menu expanded into a mix of classics and inventive twists.
Their taro jasmine milk tea, peach grapefruit tea with agar pearls, and yogurt slushies stood alongside specialty creations topped with whipped cream, freeze-dried fruit, or baked pecans.
Their adorable cat paw jelly pudding also brought a lot of attention to the shop.
The closure marks the end of a five-year run.
Earlier this year, a Noms Mag community member shared with us that the space was quietly listed for sale, hinting at the shift now confirmed.
The closure leaves a gap for those who appreciated its Japanese-style spin on bubble tea and focus on quality.
No replacement for the Granville space has been announced yet.
Momono’s exit is part of a wave of recent changes in Metro Vancouver’s dining scene, following the closures of Yum Sweet Shop, Victoria Chinese Restaurant, and TerraCotta Boyz.
