The string of restaurant closures in Metro Vancouver isn’t slowing down, and today we’re sharing another sad one.

Pokey Okey has announced the closure of two out of its three locations.

The announcement was made on Friday, February 7th, via Pokey Okey’s Instagram, where the team shared a heartfelt message with their fans.

They revealed that both their Richmond (Anderson) and Burnaby (Kingsway) locations will be shutting down.

However, they reassured customers that this isn’t goodbye forever and hinted at a future return.

Pokey Okey first launched in Richmond in 2018, followed by an expansion to Burnaby in 2020 and Downtown Vancouver in 2021.

Founded by longtime friends Victor and Jonathan, the brand quickly became a local favourite for customizable poke bowls and in-house creations like the Red Bowl and Green Bowl.

But it wasn’t just your standard poke spot—Pokey Okey also introduced luxury poke bowls, including the $100 Ruby Bowl, which featured premium ingredients like butter-basted lobster, torched Wagyu tenderloin, black garlic truffle aioli, lobster hollandaise, and black truffle.

Interestingly, as recently as last week, a sign on their Richmond location suggested they were relocating—but it now appears that won’t be the case.

And it’s not just Pokey Okey feeling the heat—Burnaby’s Kingsway location has seen multiple closures in the area, with only Dragon Bowl recently taking over the old Onezo Tapioca spot.

Fans can still grab their poke fix at their Downtown Vancouver location on Hornby Street.
