Vancouverites who love healthier and vegan sushi options – we have some sad news.

Shizenya announced on their social media that they are shutting down their Broadway location after more than a decade of service.

This spot first opened its doors on September 11th and quickly became a favourite for those seeking authentic Japanese sushi made with organic brown rice and a variety of vegan and gluten-free options.

In their announcement, Shizenya shared that the last day for the Broadway location will be May 26th.

However, fans can still visit the Hornby outpost, which will continue to operate without any interruptions.

While the reason for the closure wasn’t specified, many speculate it could be due to the ongoing construction along Broadway, which has significantly reduced foot traffic.
