Another Vancouver classic is closing…but not before one last round.
Mahony’s Tavern at Stamps Landing – aka the spot where you watched hockey, soaked up rays on the waterfront patio, and maybe crushed a few too many pints – is officially calling it a wrap this summer.
On March 27, the Mahony’s crew dropped the news via Instagram and their website: the False Creek location has been sold.
But don’t panic just yet.
The pub isn’t disappearing overnight.
You’ve got about six months left to enjoy it before the new owners and the space gets a total transformation.
Let’s rewind for a sec.
Mahony’s Tavern (originally called Mahony & Sons) was started by brothers Pete and Gerard Mahony back in 2006 as an Irish pub.
Eventually the brand pivoted in 2021 to a West Coast tavern vibe with a new look and new menu.
Think less Guinness, more craft beer and locally sourced share plates.
The False Creek location opened in 2014 and became a go-to for its killer patio views, prime Canucks game energy, and those good happy hour eats.
But now, the Mahony family is saying goodbye to their False Creek location to focus all their energy on their Convention Centre location.
As for what’s coming next?
According to a report by VIA, the new owners – Mishree Restaurant Concepts – are planning to invest a neat $5 million into transforming the space into a Tulum-inspired stunner.
Apparently it will be serving up Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean dishes.
That spot is expected to debut in Spring 2026.
This means you’ve got one last summer to bask on that patio, cheers with friends, and say your goodbyes to a piece of Vancouver pub history.
