Vancouver’s Popular Cafe ‘Cowdog’ Is Soft Opening Their New Kitsilano Location This Weekend

Well, they actually did it.

Opening a cafe in 30 days might sound like chaos to most people, but Cowdog’s second location in Kitsilano is officially soft opening this Saturday, May 10th.

And somehow they’ve even pulled it off ahead of schedule (in 25 days!).

If you’ve been following co-owner Joe Lee’s semi-daily updates on social media (guilty), you know it’s been a fun ride: figuring out what to do with those office-looking lights, cozy-fying the washroom, and dealing with the city’s slow permitting process.

Now, the wait is over.

As a refresher: Cowdog exploded onto the scene first as a pop-up at Dear Gus Snack Bar, before opening its wildly popular Oak Street cafe last July.

Known for their highly rated (by customers) strawberry matcha, hojicha lattes, and living wage, no-tip model, the brand quickly became a local cult fave.

This second location comes just 9 months after they opened their first cafe. But with their success (did you see their finances!), it makes total sense to expand.

The new location is located at West 4th and Cypress, in the former Freshii spot next to Tacofino, Cowdog Kits is finally ready to welcome its first customers.

And if their OG Oak Street location is anything to go by, you can expect a line out the door.

But the real kicker: this location is way bigger.

In Joe’s latest sneak peek, he revealed that the new space includes a lounge zone with some nifty couches, plus more seating and tables.

That is a major level-up from their tiny first shop that barely fit eight people.

The Kits shop will soft open from 10AM to 4PM this Saturday, and you just know the neighbourhood is going to roll out strong.

This Kitsilano launch is also part of a growing food buzz in the area, which includes the upcoming mystery restaurant from Toptable Group just a few blocks down.

Now we just hope that they include a framed picture of Cowdog (their dog that the cafe is named after) in the washroom. Cause why not?!

Anwyas – will we see you in line on Saturday?
