Spotted: Norwegian Waffle Spot on Robson Has Quietly Shut Down After 2 Years

It looks like the revolving door of Robson Street continues to spin.

Both our team and a Noms Mag community member (yum cha) have noticed that Kos Waffles, the cozy spot dedicated to Norwegian treats, has quietly shut down.

If you walk by the unit today, you will find the windows completely covered up, blocking any view inside.

While there has been no official farewell announcement on the brand’s Instagram page, the digital footprint confirms the physical one.

The restaurant’s Google listing is now marked as “Temporarily Closed”.

But here is the biggest clue that this is likely permanent: the unit’s commercial real estate listing, which had been active for several months, has recently gone inactive.

This strongly signals that the lease has been sold or “snatched up” by a new tenant.

Kos had a relatively short run in the downtown core.

It opened back in September 2023, taking over the space previously occupied by Chatime Atelier.

The concept was unique for Vancouver: “Kos” translates to “having a good time” in Norwegian, and the cafe focused on heart-shaped Norwegian waffles rather than the typical Belgian style.

It was also the sister project to Gastown’s whimsical Waffleland Café.

Kos joins a string of recent food and drink departures across the city.

Adding its name to a list that includes Famoso Pizzeria on Commercial Drive, Grandjoy Hot Pot in the West End, and Hon’s Wonton House in Olympic Village.
