For most people, Edmonds and Market Crossing might not be the first Burnaby neighbourhoods that come to mind for a food crawl.
But there are some genuinely solid spots hiding along Kingsway and the surrounding streets.
The Bite of Burnaby food festival is back from March 1 to 31 with over 75 participating restaurants across the city.
We’ve rounded up four of the best deals in the Edmonds and Market Crossing area so you can eat well without spending too much time scrolling.
1. MYST Asian Fusion

A three-course meal with a bottomless drink for under $20 is hard to beat anywhere in Burnaby, and MYST is delivering exactly that.
Their Bite of Burnaby menu starts with two freshly made side dishes, then you pick a base.
Steamed rice or noodles with a half-marinated egg is included, or you can upgrade to egg fried rice or stir-fried sliced noodles for an extra $5.
For protein, the base options are deep-fried pork chop and tartar fish fillet. You can also upgrade to broccoli beef or salty peppery chicken for $3 more, or Hainese chicken for $4.
The bottomless drink is either strawberry lemonade or winter melon juice with fixed sugar and ice levels.
At $19.99 for a full meal with unlimited refills on your drink, this is the budget pick of the list and a great option for a quick weeknight dinner.

2. B&D Authentic Vietnamese

B&D’s Bite of Burnaby menu is the most impressive on this list in terms of sheer depth.
For $39 you get a three-course meal with a free drink, and the choices at every stage are extensive.
Starters include options like summer salad rolls, mini spring rolls, crispy tofu with lemongrass sauce, papaya salad, crunchy wings, frog legs, and beef carpaccio made with premium grass-fed Macleod’s Leap tenderloin for an extra $4.
Mains are where things get serious.
The B&D Special Pho is made with an 18-hour simmered beef broth and comes loaded with rare beef sirloin, flank, tripe, tendon, and beef balls.
You can even opt for the extra-fatty marrow bones broth if it’s available.
Other main options include Hoi An chicken rice, vegan pho, crab fried rice for $5 more, and a limited special crab soup with a seven-hour pork bone broth, tapioca noodles, and deep-fried soft-shell crab for $2 extra.
Dessert choices include creme brulee, tiramisu, lychee panna cotta, avocado ice cream, and traditional Vietnamese sweets.
This is the most food you’ll get for $39 on the entire Bite of Burnaby list!

3. Desi Turka Indian Cuisine

Desi Turka’s three-course menu at $33 is a straightforward Indian comfort meal with no surprises and no skimping.
It starts with a manchow soup, then you pick a starter.
The aloo tikki chaat is a crispy potato patty topped with tangy yogurt and chutneys, while the Kerala pepper chicken brings black pepper, curry leaves, and tamarind.
Mains are served with rice and naan.
Your options are paneer butter masala, chicken kali mirch in a creamy cashew gravy with black pepper, or a fish curry Madras cooked Kerala-style in coconut milk with curry leaves and mustard seeds.
Dessert is either gulab jamun or ras malai.
If you’re looking for a filling Indian meal with solid variety at a fair price, this one checks all the boxes.
Heads up, Desi Turka stays open until 2 AM Thursday through Sunday so this is also a hella good late-night option.

Going solo?
The menu for one at $37.95 gets you bread stix, a medium specialty pizza, and tiramisu.
That is a loaded meal for sure.
Me-n-Ed’s has been around since 1959 and the Burnaby location on Hall Avenue keeps things classic.
It’s the kind of pizza spot where you go with your family and nobody complains.
