Vancouver’s Popular Croissant Bakery To Open New West End Location

The former Matchstick Coffee space on Davie Street has been sitting empty since the chain closed all four of its locations earlier this year.

Now one of Vancouver’s most popular croissant bakeries is moving in.

Yup, Angus T is opening its fifth Metro Vancouver location at this Davie Street unit.

This is ACTUALLY a great replacement for that corner.

Milk, the Marketing Manager at Angus T, told Noms Magazine that the West End was a deliberate choice.

“We were drawn to the West End for its character and community feel,” Milk said. “Davie Village has a unique, welcoming energy, and we wanted to be part of that, while bringing a high-quality bakery the neighborhood deserves.”

The location is expected to open this summer, though no exact date has been set.

Angus T first opened in 2018 out of Yaletown on Mainland Street and built a solid reputation for its hand-crafted croissants made with ingredients sourced from France.

Flavours like Pistachio Raspberry, Black Sesame, Matcha, and Earl Grey helped turn the bakery into one of the most popular pastry spots in the city.

The brand expanded to Park Royal in West Vancouver in 2021, and earlier this year opened its River District location, making Davie Street the fourth.

This stretch of Davie has seen a wave of change in recent months.

Matchstick Coffee had been a neighbourhood staple for 14 years before announcing it was winding down all four locations in early 2026.

The Davie and Jervis spot was the last to close on March 31.

Since then, former Matchstick units across the city have been picked up by new operators.

Noct Coffee and Octave Coffee have taken over other locations, and now Angus T fills the Davie Village space.

The West End has not had a dedicated croissant bakery before, and Angus T’s format of fresh, made-daily pastries paired with coffee fits the grab-and-go pace of Davie Street well.

Angus T West End joins other upcoming food spots in Vancouver, including Namba Curry, Lee’s Donuts Langara, and Coasters Coffee Rupert.
