The unit that a longtime Killarney Starbucks left behind already has a new coffee tenant lined up.
Several Noms Mag community members (eamonnyc and Kel) spotted Trees Coffee signage up at the Killarney Shopping Centre plaza
They are taking over what was a Starbucks for more than 15 years.

The Starbucks shut down back in February 2026.
The unit did not stay quiet for long.
It was completely gutted soon after Starbucks cleared out, and the Trees signage has already gone up in its place.
It seems that Trees Coffee is having a BIG year.
The Vancouver chain, founded here in 1996 and known for its organic fair-trade coffee and New York-style cheesecakes, has been expanding across the city at a fast clip.

This spring it opened a striking new King Edward Village cafe at 1408 Kingsway, taking over the longtime Hakim Optical unit with a forest mural and floor-to-ceiling corner windows.
It also locked in a prominent ground floor corner at the new REN rental tower on Joyce and Kingsway, its second new Kingsway cafe in a matter of months.

Around the same time, the brand quietly closed its Davie Village location after five years, a sign it is shifting away from older street-level spots and toward higher-traffic, transit-friendly intersections.
The Killarney move fits that pattern cleanly.
The plaza sits on a busy stretch of East 49th Avenue, anchored by 88 Supermarket, and pulls steady foot traffic from the dense residential pocket around it.
It is also the kind of corner Starbucks walked away from and a growing local chain is happy to step into.
No opening date, menu, or hours have been announced for the Killarney cafe yet.
Trees Coffee Killarney now joins other upcoming food spots coming to Vancouver, including Läderach Pacific Centre, Fish Cafe, and Loreto.
